Why we give the templates away
Someone searching for a status report template or a project charter sample has a concrete problem right now: the steering committee meets tomorrow, or the sponsor finally wants something in writing. At that moment a file helps, not a software comparison. So here is the file - as a Word, Excel or PowerPoint template, without leaving an e-mail address for it.
We did not copy the templates from somewhere; we derived them from our own tool. The fields in the status report are the ones WORKSPACE.PM keeps inside a project; the columns of the responsibility matrix match what sits on a work package there. That has a side effect we will not hide: whoever ends up running more than a handful of projects in parallel and can no longer keep the files together already knows the structure when switching to the tool.
All files are macro-free, are checked in Microsoft Office, and carry their date in the header.

01Are the templates really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no e-mail prompt and no paywall. The download starts when you click the file.
02Which formats are available?
Depending on the template, a Word file (DOCX), an Excel sheet (XLSX) or a PowerPoint slide (PPTX), always with a PDF to view. The formats are listed on each template page. The files contain no macros and use standard features only; they have been checked in Microsoft Office. The current versions are in German.
03May I use the templates at work or in public administration?
Yes, commercially too and in as many projects as you like. You may change the logo, colours and fields. Only reselling the files or offering them as a template collection of your own is not permitted.
04How up to date are the templates?
Every file carries a date in the header, and the same date is shown on the template page. We welcome any hints about errors.
05What is the difference between the template and WORKSPACE.PM?
The template is a file you fill in by hand and send by e-mail. In WORKSPACE.PM the same sheet is a function inside the project: the status report knows the previous one, the responsibility matrix hangs on the work package, the stakeholder list sits next to the risks. If you want to see that, the sandbox opens an instance with demo projects - no registration.
